Units are currently undergoing external and underframe overhaul at Ilford and a number of livery modifications have been made. Firstly, the crew access door behind the cab has been painted in an orange shade to comply with DDA regulations. The size of the red 'swoosh' has been increased and it now extends to the base of the cab. Refurbished 2410 is coupled to 2413 (not 2418) at Waterloo. Note 2413 was running with 2418's driving car due to windscreen damage on the respective vehicle from 2413. (Jan-'07) |
The announcement by SWT that they were (indirectly) replacing 'Wessex Electrics' with 'Junipers' provoked some strong views from the travelling public and enthusiasts alike. One of the former, 2410 arrives at Brockenhurst with a service for the South Coast. (Nov-'06) |

Like most 'last days' on the railway, the 442 Wessex Electrics were still going strong after their last day - 13th Jan 2007 - with typically 2 or 3 units out and about. The absolute deadline however, was the beginning of February when the fleet was taken off lease on commencement of the new South West Trains franchise. 2410 seen here at Waterloo. (Jan-'07) |
